Tsunoshima Ohashi Bridge

Tsunoshima Ohashi Bridge connects Honshu with Tsunoshima. It boasts a total length of 1,780 m, and this length makes it one of Japan’s longest public roads that can be crossed for free. Because the bridge is not very high, the sea feels closer. At night the bridge is lit up, creating a path of light, and allowing to enjoy different scenery from the one you can see during the day.

Tsunoshima Lighthouse

Designed by the British engineer R. Branton, called the “father of lighthouses”, the lighthouse was installed in 1876. It is still in use today, and is selected as an Important Cultural Property and a preserved lighthouse that is designated by the Japan Coast Guard with a cultural property rank of A. After climbing all the way to the top of the spiral staircase, you can enjoy a 360-degree panoramic view from the observation deck.

Motonosumi Shrine

The deity enshrined here is prayed to for success in business and fishing, safety at sea, good relationships, childbearing, good luck and warding off evil, wealth and happiness, road safety, and success in learning and wish fulfillment. The view of the 123 torii gates set up over ten years from 1987 is a sight to behold. There is an offertory box at a height of five meters at the top of the main torii, and it said that if you manage to throw in your offering, your wish will come true.
